The In Season Tournament (IST) has been a nice surprise for all basketball fans. When Adam Silver had announced that they were going to go through with this idea many fans including myself were very skeptical of it and weren’t the biggest fan of this. Oh boy were we wrong. This may have been one of the best additions to the NBA in recent memory.
The IST has showcased playoff level intensity and atmosphere in nearly all of their games. One of the many games that I can highlight from this IST was Lakers vs Suns, just on Tuesday night. We saw two of the games greatest go at it in Lebron James who had 31 points and Kevin Durant who also had 31 points. These great performances were followed by the exceptional play of both Anthony Davis (27 points) and Devin Booker (21 points). We saw Austin Reaves (20 pts) put the nail in the coffin when he hit a 3-pointer to go up 4 with 15 seconds left. Every game between these two teams have been nail-biters that came down to who wanted it more.
One player that has been absolutely phenomenal not just in the IST but in the regular season as well is Tyrese Halliburton. Halliburton, averaging 26.9 pts, 4.0 rebounds, and a league leader in assists at 11.9 assists per game. Since Halliburton plays in Indiana, most of the casual fans don’t even know he has been playing out of his mind this year. Since the IST begun he has been able to showcase his talent on national television and he hasn’t disappointed a single viewer. Putting up hits first career triple double against the Celtics and a dagger and one 3 Haliburton is slowly solidifying himself as one of the premier point guards in the NBA today.
The two games tonight we will see Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers take on Damian Lillard and the Milwaukee Bucks at 2pm (pst). We will also see the young phenom in Zion Williamson and the Pelicans take on one of the games greatest in Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at 6pm (pst). Make sure to tune in tonight.
