(#6 Marlon Vera vs. #10 Pedro Munhoz)
This fight was very competitive from the start to the end. Munhoz honestly surprised me, as he looked really good. Vera, on the other hand, came out at his usual pace. He’s a very slow starter but as the fight goes on he slowly ramps it up and starts pouring the combinations on his opponents which is what he did in this fight that helped him win the fight.
Marlon Vera def. Pedro Munhoz via Unanimous Decision
(Da’mon Blackshear vs. Mario Bautista)
In this fight we saw two very good prospects in the bantamweight division square it off. Da’mon Blackshear deserves all the respect in the world right now, just last week he fought and won by submission. The submission was a twister, which has only been done three times in UFC history. Mario Bautista is a good fighter and in this fight he saw some adversity in the first round that he would overcome and find victory in this fight.
Mario Bautsita def. Da’mon Blackshear via Unanimous Decision
(#13 Ian Machado Garry vs. #11 Neil Magny)
In the welterweight division we saw an absolute technical masterclass from Ian Garry. Neil Magny is one of the toughest fighters in the UFC and he showed that yesterday. He ate leg kick after leg kick and there was obvious damage done to his legs. Garry showed phenomenal striking which helped him secure the win. In his post fight interview he did call out Stephen Thompson which is a match made in heaven.
Ian Machado Garry def. Neil Magny via Unanimous Decision
(C Zhang Weili vs #5 Amanda Lemos)
This fight was not even competitive whatsoever. Zhang absolutely dominated with her wrestling and gave Lemos zero breathing room. She completely smothered her from start to finish. Lemos is super tough, there probably is no other contender that can go five rounds with Weili like that right now. Zhang’s wrestling was why she was victorious yesterday.
Zhang Weili def. Amanda Lemos via Unanimous Decision
(C Aljamain Sterling vs #2 Sean O’Malley)
During the walkouts of the fight, this fight had a feeling like none other. It almost felt like this fight was destined to happen. O’Malley walking out to superstar couldn’t fit any better and Aljo looked very focused. The walkouts, the staredown before Bruce announced them, the actual introductions, everything was perfect. It was a very slow start to begin and the first round was pretty even up until Aljo went in for a takedown which helped him steal the round. The 2nd round we saw the unthinkable happen when O’Malley hit Aljo with one of the cleanest right hand’s we’ve ever seen. O’Malley wasted no time immediately getting the finish and right then and there we saw a superstar berthed. This was almost reminiscent of Aldo vs Mcgregor.
Sean O’Malley def. Aljamain Sterling via 2nd Round TKO
