What's Next for Max Holloway

Max Holloway is the 2nd best featherweight in the world right now and is showing no signs of slowing down. There is only one issue, he has already faced the champ 3 times and has lost all 3 times. After a great victory today against The Korean Zombie there’s a lot of questions to be asked now. Max Holloway is an absolute machine in the featherweight division, I mean he should also have his own belt. He is one of the reasons why there aren’t as many contenders in the division. But anyway like I said, what's next?

One opponent that you can easily point to right now is Ilia Topuria. Topuria holds a record of (14-0) and is one of the best prospects in the featherweight division right now. He has almost no weakness anywhere in his game and has dominated every fight he has had in the UFC. This matchup will be very intriguing but I doubt that it happens because Ilia probably wants to avoid fighting Max until he gets his title shot.

Another option would be to move up in weight and have a fight against the winner of Chandler vs Mcgregor. Although Max isn’t the featherweight champ he has pretty much wiped out the whole division. The first time we saw Max move up in weight he fought Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight title. Max looked very good in this fight but ultimately lost to the natural 155er in Poirier. With this being said Chandler and Mcgregor are very good stylistic matchups for Max because of the cardio. The power difference will obviously go to both guys but Max has one of the best chins in UFC history.

As of right now there aren't a lot of options for the former champ. The featherweight division being as stale as it is right now because of the two top competitors (Volkanovski and Holloway) and Max losing all 3 times he’s faced Volk, he is in a very weird spot.
